Glorious Glass Bead Sets
June 14, 6-9pm
In just one evening, you will learn how to create a set of colorful glass beads that can be made into matching jewelry.  Pick your color palate, learn to control molten glass.  
Rug Hooking
June 14, 6-9pm
Learn the basics of traditional rug hooking, pulling up loops with wool fabric strips into a linen foundation. Add your own ideas as you design and create a “hit-or-miss” hooked wool trivet and complete it in one evening.
Speed Craft 
June 15, 6:30 pm at the Delmar Gallery

Join us for a night of rapid-fire presentations some of Craft Alliance artists-in-residence. Complimentary beer provided by Urban Chestnut Brewing Co. This event is organized in conjunction with our 2016 Artists-in-Residence Exhibition and is FREE and open to the public.
2D Makerspace Workshop Basics of the Laser Cutter

This workshop will introduce the basic skills of graphic design and its uses for creating physical objects with a laser cutter. 
Robotics 101

Ever wondered about the principles behind robotic machines? This workshop will give a basic introduction into the principles of robotics.
From Industry to Art: Liquid Enameling Techniques with Kat Cole
June 25 & 26, 10am-5pm

Visiting artist, Kat Cole, will instruct students in the application of line, pattern, texture and color to the surface of both flat and 3-dimensional copper pieces. 
Powder Coated Metal
June 26, 1-4pm
Get a crash course on the art of Powder Coating. You will cover the basic techniques of powder sifting, and each student will have access to a large selection of colors. 
Nuno Felted Scarf 
June 26, 1-4pm
Create a beautiful felted silk scarf in just a few hours. Learn how to layer wool fibers onto a silk background, then wet it and felt the wool fibers into the silk.
Hollow Beads II
June 27, 6-9pm
Now that you have the basic skills to make hollow beads you will learn more lampwork techniques to embellish the surface by adding dots, lines and frit.
Dots and Twists
June 29, 6-9pm
You will start by making simple glass twists, then learn your way up to create beautiful multi-color canes and use these components to decorate your beads or incorporate into your designs.

The Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design Education Centers serves adults and children annually through instruction and demonstration by professional artists in clay, glass, metal, fiber, wood and 2D. This biennial juried exhibition represents the quality work created by artists who have been inspired in the studios of Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design.
Craft Uncorked – Raku Clay (Ages 21+)
July 8, 6-9pm
Come to the Clay Studio in the Delmar Loop, decorate a clay vessel, and fire it in our raku kiln. John Boss will guide you through the steps to add color to a thrown clay bowl, based on the ancient Japanese art of raku firing. Enjoy a glass of wine or two and light snacks while you work!  
Editing your Photography
July 9, 12:30-3:30pm
Learn basic to intermediate techniques for editing your photographs in Photoshop to be ready for publication, advertising, and online use. Bring your own digital files on flash drive.

Craft Uncorked – Fused Glass Coasters (Ages 21+)

Come to the Glass Studio in the Delmar Loop and make a pair of fused glass coasters.  Yuko Suga and Sue Wuest will guide you through the steps to explore glass-fusing techniques.  Learn the basics of cutting and assembling sheet glass for melting in the kiln. 
Sculptural Basket Weaving
July 16, 1:30-4:30pm
Change your notions of basket weaving and learn to weave like a bird. Learn the modern sculptural basketry technique of random weaving and learn which fibers are suitable for weaving. 
Glass Beadmaking

Explore a variety of techniques used to make colorful glass beads.  Individual attention and demonstrations will help develop your skills.

Come to the Fiber Studio in Grand Center and make a shibori scarf for yourself or someone special. Nicole Ottwell will guide you through the steps to make a beautiful dyed scarf using a contemporary take on the ancient Japanese art of Arashi shibori. Enjoy a glass of wine and some snacks throughout the evening.
Felted Cobweb Scarf

Cobweb felting is a technique which 
produces a distinctive transparent fiber material.  Use this technique to produce a piece of wearable art that drapes beautifully  with an effervescent blend of colors.
Craft On Tap – Clay Steins (Ages 21+)
July 29, 6-9pm
Create hand-built clay beer steins in just one evening at the clay studio in Grand Center. Enjoy beer from a local brewery and light snacks, while Andrea Linskey guides you in making a functional beer stein. Pieces will be ready for pick-up two weeks after the workshop.

Craft On Tap – 3D Model + Print a Bottle Opener (Ages 21+)
August 5, 6-9pm
Design a unique bottle opener to use the next time you crack open a cold one. You’ll learn about the history of 3D printing, design your piece on the computers, and have a chance to see the process up close. After the workshop, your bottle opener will be 3D printed and available for pickup in a week. No experience necessary.

Spend  a Friday night with friends in the Clay Studio in Grand Center enjoying wine and light snacks, and making a pair of hand built clay coffee mugs. Andrea Linskey will teach you how to work with clay and pieces will be fired and ready for pick-up two weeks after the workshop.

This workshop is for students excited to work in a three-day immersion of metalworking techniques. Experiment with new methods, refine your technical skills, and enhance your design vocabulary while making one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Both Roy Strassberg and Bunny Burson’s works pull from memories and research of the Holocaust. As first generation American Jews with family stories from this haunting time, Strassberg and Burson'smarks contain a raw and arresting energy. Reading between those lines, viewers may investigate the deeply personal stories that begin to rise to the surface of the works.
