Have you ever driven past the high-rises on Skinker or Hanley and wondered
what the condos are like, how they’re decorated, and what art there
is? On Saturday, October 1, Craft Alliance will provide memorable spectacular
answers to those questions in its “High on Art” tour, which
will feature five stunning collections at some of St. Louis’ most
prestigious addresses.
We’ll delve into the question, “what is it like to live
with 'art'?” We’ll see high-rise homes that were designed
specifically to showcase the owners’ art and others adapted to
collections. We’ll witness the visual dialogues that are present
in collections that combine a variety of art forms such as paintings,
glass, ceramics, fiber, and sculpture in one space.
It’ll be a “who's who” of artists -- Lichtenstein,
Chihuly, Motherwell, Segal, Bean,
Ben Tre. Dine, Castle, Sauer, Moulthrop, Giles, and Eastman. Some
of these works have been exhibited in museums.

You’ll delight in experiencing these collections. You’ll
appreciate how these homeowners have combined a variety of art in their
daily lives. As one collector observed, “We believe that paintings
and sculpture and craft are born from the same creative spirit and are
happiest when they live with one another.”
Our day’s excursion will also include a different kind of fusion--lunch
at 609 Restaurant in University City and its seasonal fusion-style cuisine
with Asian influences.
So, sign up for “High on Art” and ride the elevators up
to see the vistas and the collections that are awaiting you on Hanley
and Skinker.
