Karen Clark Hamilton’s sense of universal rhythm and the aesthetic connections that exist between natural and artificial elements are embodied in the jewelry that she produces. As a jewelry designer, Karen uses a mix of materials including semiprecious stones, fresh water pearls, sterling silver, copper, bronze and vintage elements. Karen explains, “Exploring a variety of traditional and nontraditional materials allows me to create a timeless contemporary line of jewelry that completely separates the individual wearer from the masses.”
She creates her Star trail Series with the initial inspiration of time-lapse photography of the constellations. Star trail photos are created using a long exposure time in a fixed location. The results create ephemeral sweeping imagery that the stars leave as they trek across the sky. Each piece in the Apex Spire jewelry star trail series is a one of a kind roll print and like the stars; no two are ever the same.
