My current work is a combination of learning from the experiences of life, learning from mentors and a study of art forms of those who have gone before us. We are all connected by this common thread or a kind of language.
There are many layers of me, just as there are many layers of my art work. As a small child I learned needlework from my Mother and ladies of the neighborhood. The love of my life has always been creating, so following twenty-five years in the cosmetic industry I have returned to textiles. I am fortunate to have lived in Europe and traveled to many areas of the United States and Japan. After discovering Shibori in 2003, it has become my passion. Shibori is cloth that has been folded, wrapped or stitched in different techniques. The style is best known in Japanese textiles and is also found in textiles of ancient cultures. The layers and textures of the work give them a sculptural form.
