She received her BA in Art History from Wellesley College and her Masters in Education from Harvard University. For many years, she has been a potter and tile maker, gaining much of her skill through classes at Craft Alliance.
Native American horsehair pots have been fascinating her for years, and several years ago she set out to learn how to fire her pots using horsehair for decoration. The process is similar to raku firing. Fortunately her daughter has been involved in grooming horses and keeps her supplied with hair from their tails.
Kitty's horsehair pots have not been fired to a hot enough temperature to make them vitreous, they will not hold water successfully. If you wish to use them as a vase please insert a small glass jar to hold water, or used dried material. An occasional waxing will maintain the shine.
