Elisa Roth

I am a recently retired art teacher. My teaching career spanned 30 years between the University City and Ladue School Districts. I loved teaching! I shared my passion for art history and the importance of environmental beautification. I focused our learning on historical and cultural inspirations and applied as many types of media as possible during the course of the year.

Every Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade level contributed a permanent piece to the school during the course of the year. We made over 60 mosaics, 6 full scale murals and many, many smaller installations. Our school was a very special place.

I am currently exploring my own art skills and working as an artist and part-time teacher. I work in mosaics, metals, painting, and ceramics. My work is inspired by the natural world but is mostly abstract. I love to mix media and often include poetry. As an elementary teacher, I loved teaching and learning many media. My long-term plan is to continue exploring new media and never stop learning. Craft Alliance is the community I was missing when I left teaching. The space is filled with creative, hard-working, generous artists all interested in the same goal: to create. The studios provide me with friendship, challenge, space, and energy to be my best creative self. And that’s why I come back every week.
