Discover the expressive possibilities of intaglio printmaking through the timeless techniques of copperplate etching and drypoint. Long celebrated for their ability to capture the spontaneity, richness, and fine detail of drawing, these processes allow artists to create beautifully detailed prints while producing multiple impressions from a single plate. Students will learn the fundamentals of preparing copper plates, creating imagery through etching and drypoint, inking, and printing their work on an etching press. Throughout the course, you'll explore how line quality, texture, and mark-making can be used to create expressive, hand-drawn imagery unique to intaglio printmaking.
