Pretty in Pink: Dyeing with Cochineal
Discover the rich history and brilliant hues of cochineal, one of nature’s most celebrated dyes. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn to prepare and dye natural fibers with the vivid reds, pinks, and purples produced by this remarkable insect-based pigment.
Guided by an experienced fiber artist, you’ll explore the complete dyeing process—from fiber preparation and mordanting to dye extraction and color modification—experimenting with tone and texture to create a range of natural shades. Participants will leave with a set of beautifully dyed fabric samples and the knowledge to continue natural dyeing at home.
