In Advanced Metalsmithing, you’ll work on independent or guided projects while exploring more complex techniques such as stone setting, advanced soldering, hinge construction, hollow forms, and surface embellishment.

With support from a professional metalsmith, students will receive personalized instruction tailored to their goals, whether you're developing a cohesive body of work, preparing a portfolio, or mastering specific skills. Emphasis will be placed on design development, craftsmanship, and finishing techniques.

This is the perfect course for students ready to deepen their technical skillset and creative voice in the metals studio.

Prerequisite: Prior experience in metalsmithing or completion of an intermediate-level course.

Dive into the world of glass bead making in this fun and fast-paced 4-hour workshop! You’ll learn how to safely operate a torch to melt glass and create perfectly round beads. As you gain hands-on experience, you'll explore different shapes and enhance your beads with decorative techniques such as adding dots, striping colors, and pulling glass stringers (heating and pulling glass to create a thin elongated piece of glass) to create unique designs. Whether you're a beginner or looking to expand your skills, this workshop will provide you with the tools and techniques to craft a collection of beautiful, one-of-a-kind glass beads. By the end of the session, you’ll have a treasure trove of beads to wear or use in your own jewelry creations! Beads will go through an annealing process to temper the glass for strength—your instructor will set a pickup time. Traveling? We can mail your beads to you! Learn the art of turning wood on the lathe while creating beautiful, functional bowls in this beginner-friendly course. Designed for those new to the wood studio, this hands-on class introduces the fundamentals of bowl turning, with a focus on lathe safety, tool control, and shaping techniques.

Students will start with green wood and practice the full process—from mounting and rough shaping to hollowing, refining curves, and finishing. Along the way, you'll gain confidence using gouges and chisels, and understand the grain structure and behavior of wood as it turns on the lathe.

Each student will complete one or more hand-turned bowls and leave with the foundational skills needed for independent woodturning.

Guided by an experienced teaching artist, you’ll practice safe hand tool techniques using carving knives, rasps, and sandpaper to refine your form. Along the way, you’ll learn about wood grain, tool control, and finishing oils—skills you can take into future woodworking projects.

By the end of the night, you’ll leave with a functional, handmade spatula that’s both beautiful and practical, perfect for your kitchen or as a thoughtful gift.
