Add color, pattern, and layered imagery to your ceramics in this hands-on workshop exploring underglaze transfers. Whether you're working with handbuilt or wheel-thrown pieces, you'll learn how to apply pre-made and custom-designed transfers to create dynamic surfaces and visual depth.  Through guided demonstrations and individual experimentation, you'll explore techniques for successful application, layering, and combining transfers with other surface treatments like sgraffito, resist, or underglaze painting.  This workshop is open to all levels—ideal for anyone looking to expand their surface design skills and bring a new dimension to their ceramic work. Note: This workshop is for ages 16+. If you require special accommodation, please contact grant.benoit@craftalliance.org. All materials included. Closed-toe shoes required. Aprons available in the studio. Finished pieces will be glazed and fired for pickup approximately two weeks after class.

Get hands-on with wood and create a kitchen tool you’ll use every day! In this evening workshop, you’ll learn the basics of shaping, carving, and finishing as you transform a block of hardwood into a custom spatula.

Guided by an experienced teaching artist, you’ll practice safe hand tool techniques using carving knives, rasps, and sandpaper to refine your form. Along the way, you’ll learn about wood grain, tool control, and finishing oils—skills you can take into future woodworking projects.

By the end of the night, you’ll leave with a functional, handmade spatula that’s both beautiful and practical, perfect for your kitchen or as a thoughtful gift.

Note: This workshop is for adults 16+. All materials and tools are provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes and tie back long hair. If you require special accommodation, please contact grant.benoit@craftalliance.org
