Michel Krevenas

Born and raised in Philadelphia, I have been a resident of St. Louis for over 30 years, where I live with my husband, our three cats, and our dog, Ellie. I hold a BFA in Ceramic Sculpture with a minor in Costume Design from Alfred University, an MFA in Mixed Media Sculpture and Arts Administration from the University of Colorado, and a Master of Arts in Education from Saint Louis University.

I am currently an elementary art educator with St. Louis Public Schools. In addition to my classroom teaching, I work with summer camp programs and occasionally teach adult lampwork bead workshops at Craft Alliance.

Travel plays an important role in both my life and my work. The objects I collect from beaches, streets, and markets around the world often find their way into my art. My practice is rooted in process, layering and assembling materials such as metal, glass, and ceramics to create richly textured, mixed-media pieces one can wear.

My inspiration and artistic voice are deeply connected to my family, who fostered my creativity from an early age. Creating art is not just a profession, but an essential part of how I experience and engage with the world.
