TOY: Camp Trick honors Porter’s time as an artist-in-residence at Craft Alliance and celebrates her role as both a maker and a mentor. Porter sees community education spaces as places where people can create and find freedom—especially during times of political and personal uncertainty. She values helping others build hands-on skills and a sense of play.

Her artwork is rooted in queer ideas and blends sculpture and function with bold, energetic flamboyantly camp style. Porter creates forms inspired by both the body and architecture, mixing materials to explore space, identity, and transformation. Her bright colors and rich textures invite viewers into a world full of possibility.

Her work is influenced by Sara Ahmed’s ideas about hope and feminist action, which sees hope as the drive to challenge harmful systems and imagine new ways of being.
