Description

"Build on your foundational metalsmithing skills and take your craftsmanship to the next level! This course is designed for beginning metalsmiths who have completed at least one class and are ready to commit to regular practice before advancing to higher-level coursework. Students will complete a mix of guided and independent projects that reinforce and expand core techniques such as sawing, filing, texturing, soldering, forming, and finishing. Special emphasis will be placed on improving tool handling and developing a more confident studio practice.

Prerequisite: Students should have prior experience with basic metalsmithing techniques, including filing, sawing, hammering, and high-temperature soldering.

Safety Note: This course is for ages 16+. If you require special accommodation for this course, please contact grant.benoit@craftalliance.org. All materials are included in your materials fee. All necessary safety gear will be provided, including safety glasses, gloves, and aprons. You must wear closed-toe shoes and natural fiber clothing, and long hair must be tied back to ensure your safety while working in the studio."
