Bowl Turning
Description
"Take your woodturning skills to the next level! This course is designed for students who have completed at least one woodturning class and are ready to build on their foundational skills. You’ll explore design strategies, wood selection for different forms, and techniques for maintaining consistent wall thickness—key to creating professional-quality work.
We will also dive into the process of turning natural edge bowls, where the bark or outer surface of the wood becomes a striking feature, and footed bowls, which introduce refined detailing at the base.
Through hands-on demonstrations and guided projects, students will strengthen their technical skills and creative problem-solving in the studio.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed at least one previous woodturning course.
Safety Note: This course is for ages 16+. If you require special accommodation for this course, please contact grant.benoit@craftalliance.org. All necessary safety gear will be provided. Students must wear closed-toe shoes and natural fiber clothing, and long hair must be tied back for safety.
