Description

In this class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of ceramic glazing, from understanding the components of glazes to creating your own unique recipes. You'll discover how to use a gram scale to measure materials accurately and explore the different clays, fluxes, and oxides that form the foundation of glazes.

Safety Note: This class is for ages 16+. If you require special accommodation for this class, please email grant.benoit@craftalliance.org. Glaze-making involves working with powdered materials. A personal KN95 dust mask is required to protect yourself from inhaling glaze dust—please purchase one that fits and is comfortable for your face. Bisque ware (already fired, unglazed pottery) is required for the class, and all safety procedures for kiln use will be covered during the course.
