Introduction to Collagraphs
Description
"Collagraph is a creative and hands-on printmaking process that blends collage with traditional printmaking techniques like relief and intaglio printing. In this class, you’ll create your own printing plate using a variety of materials such as cardboard, acrylic gel, tin foil, textiles, and plastics. These materials add unique textures to your plate, which will be used to create prints that can range from abstract designs to detailed, realistic images.
Collagraph is all about experimenting and having fun with texture and mark-making. Whether you’re new to printmaking or looking for a fresh way to express yourself, this process allows for endless creativity and the freedom to explore different styles. Don’t worry if the process sounds confusing—we’ll guide you step by step and everything will start to click once you’re hands-on in the studio!
No prior drawing or printmaking experience is required—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
Note: This course is for ages 16+. If you require special accommodation for this course, please contact grant.benoit@craftalliance.org. All materials included. Students should wear closed toed shoes."
