Position

The Studio Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and safety of the Education Center studios (blacksmithing, clay, glass, fiber, metals, print, and wood), coordinates communications with faculty, and assists with Third Friday events, Student & Faculty Sale and exhibitions. The Studio Coordinator works with a core group of faculty members and collaborates broadly with members of the Education Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all studios.
  • Develop and maintain studio material inventories in coordination with Faculty.
  • Develop and maintain studio equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Develop and maintain a list of studio monitors.
  • Assist with the organization of the Student/Faculty sales.
  • Prepare the studios for guest artists and workshops.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on all studio equipment.
  • Schedule clay studio kilns; load, fire, and unload student work.
  • Act as resource person for student questions.
  • Manage inventories and materials for studios and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Schedule and supervise Clay Studio monitors and oversee all studio monitors as needed.
  • Assign monitor duties (e.g., clay reclamation, glaze mixing, weighing metals, etc.).
  • Train and provide safety information for faculty in the use of studio equipment.
  • Facilitate tours, programming or other events as a representative of Craft Alliance.
  • Manage annual equipment inventory lists.
  • Track budget – research and maintain lists of preferred vendors for supplies and equipment.
  • Order studio equipment and supplies in consultation with the Education & Programs Director and other staff as needed.
  • Assist with exhibition installation and deinstallation.
  • Provide weekly reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Education Manager to establish a budget and expense tracking for the Community Programs.
  • Attend all Education and staff meetings.
  • Accept other duties as assigned.

 

Relationships:

  • Reports to the Education & Programs Director.
  • Is part of the Education and Programs team and works collaboratively with a Facilities Manager, Registrar, and Education Manager. Works across departments with Development & Communication and Finance.
  • Supervises Studio Monitors and works with teaching faculty.

    Salary: $38,000-$42,000

      Required

      • Bachelor of Arts
      • Two years of work experience.
      • Knowledge of inventory control, resource management, and reporting 

      Preferred

      • Knowledge of Ceramic, Glass, and/or Metal Studio best practices, and willingness to learn other studio areas.
      • Teaching experience with a variety of students in both traditional and non-traditional settings
      • Experience or background in craft or visual arts.
      • Strong oral and written communication skills.
      • Basic computer skills – (Microsoft Office Suite, CRM programs like Donorview)
      • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement programs and projects.
      • Strong resource and time management skills.
      • The ability to travel within the St. Louis Region.
      • Prepared to work evenings and weekends as needed.
