Join us for full days of fun at Craft Alliance's Spring Break Camp!   For our 10–14-year-olds: Play and create with fibers and get hands on with clay at our hands-on spring break camp!! Spring Break Camps are a little different than our other camps, where students will be with us all day as they create in our studios. The first half of the day will consist of fiber arts activities and will conclude with handbuilding in our ceramics studio! In this creative studio camp, campers will explore handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction to craft unique bowls, sculptures, and functional pieces. Guided by skilled instructors, campers will also build confidence using diverse materials and tools in our fibers studio while creating unique, textured pieces that showcase their personal style. This camp is perfect for young artists who love to build with their hands and experiment with texture, form, and design.   For our 7-9-year-olds: Play and create with fibers and get hands on with paint at our hands-on spring break camp for young artists ages 7–9! Spring Break Camps are a little different than our other camps, where students will be with us all day as they create in our studios. The first half of the day will consist of printmaking and painting activities and will conclude with a slew of fiber arts activities! In this colorful studio camp, campers will explore the playful world of printmaking through projects like foam block printing, stamping, monotypes, and gelatin plate prints. Guided by experienced instructors, kids will learn how to layer colors, experiment with patterns, and pull their very own prints to take home and share. Guided by skilled instructors, campers will also build confidence using diverse materials and tools in our fibers studio while creating unique, textured pieces that showcase their personal style.   Note: All materials included. Experience the magic of atmospheric wood firing in this special off-site workshop at Watermark Studios in Worden, IL, led by ceramic artist Dan Barnett. This unique firing method—Burning wood creates ash, creating unpredictable and organic surface effects forming a natural glaze.  Dan has designed a high-efficiency, fast-fire wood kiln that reaches peak temperature in just 12 hours, using a minimal amount of sustainably harvested wood from his land. As the flames move through the kiln, wood ash settles onto the pottery, melting into a one-of-a-kind glaze finish.  What to Bring: 
  • 8–15 bisque-fired pieces (minimum) prepared for the firing. 
  • An open mind—atmospheric firing is an exciting process with unexpected and beautiful results! 
Don’t miss this opportunity to fire your work in a sustainably designed kiln and explore the rich, varied surfaces that only wood firing can create!  Safety Note: This workshop is for ages 16+. Whether you’ve always wanted to try ceramics or are just looking for a creative night out, you’ll learn the basics of centering clay, pulling walls, and shaping simple forms on the wheel. With step-by-step instruction and plenty of hands-on practice, you'll create 1–2 small pieces that Craft Alliance will glaze and fire for you to pick up later. No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and be ready to get messy! Note: Studio fee is included in the ticket price on our registration page. This workshop is for adults 16+.
